We are looking for an experienced gaming or compliance lawyer to help drive the rapid, ongoing growth of the business during its global expansion.

The role will be based in our Estonian office (or remotely is domiciled elsewhere) and will necessitate liaising with teams across a number of our other offices, as well as external counsel where necessary.

The legal team currently comprises 2 lawyers, 1 MLRO and 1 expansion project manager. This role will report into the Head of Legal.


Job duties:

• Developing a strong understanding of, and advising on, regulatory issues affecting the gaming products and liaising with gaming regulatory authorities as necessary;
• Supporting Head of Legal to monitor regulatory developments relevant to the global business, advising management and staff of such developments and supporting the delivery of any resulting operational change;
• Drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contract matters including software licences and services agreements with games and systems providers, advertising, marketing and sponsorship contracts with agencies/media owners/marketing affiliates/advertising platforms, payment processing, IT supply and data analytics agreements;
• Providing legal advice in relation to website terms and conditions, acting as legal point of contact for the business for websites and specific projects across a variety of territories;
• Supporting Head of Legal with any complaint handling escalation, regulatory investigations and other disputes;
• Providing general advice and acting as legal project manager to various parts of the business globally;
• Conducting assessments of new territories for the group and assist on corporate acquisitions, disposals and other corporate projects as and when they arise;
• Working across the business to ensure joined-up thinking with any number of group functions/stakeholders including Privacy and Compliance.
• Providing legal training to parts of the business where required and contributing to developing the team's know-how and precedent bank.

Experience/Competence:

The successful candidate will likely have 4-6 years of experience as either gaming sector inhouse, compliance officer or attorney working on regulated clients with significant prior experience and technical proficiency in independently drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, preferably with a focus on software, technology and media services. Betting and gaming legal experience is an advantage but is not a pre-requisite.

• be able to manage ambiguity and operate effectively even when a scenario is not certain or clear;
• be solutions oriented - looking at business cases from a perspective of how they can be achieved;
• communicate clearly, orally and in writing, conveying complex or nuanced legal issues in a concise, commercially focused manner targeted appropriately to the reader;
• be result-driven, consistently achieving goals/meeting deadlines (even under tough circumstances), pursuing goals with a sense of urgency/energy and an emphasis on excellence;
• balance multiple stakeholders, understanding where matters have relevance across different functions and anticipating stakeholder needs;
• manage complexity, making sense of complex, high volume information to effectively solve problems;
• be a calm, emotionally mature, team player;
• professional level English language skill is a must and working knowledge of Russian is an advantage.
