We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer to join the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE). The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, developing, and maintaining advanced cyber exercise and laboratory environments that support NATOs mission in cyber defence research, training, and capability development.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to international cyber defence initiatives, work with cutting-edge technologies, and collaborate with experts from NATO and Allied Nations. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with initiative, precision, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multinational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and setting up cyber exercises and laboratory environments
  • Monitoring and developing the laboratory infrastructure of the NATO CCDCOE
  • Planning, managing, and supporting NATO CCDCOE projects as a Subject Matter Expert and/or Project Lead
  • Providing technical expertise to assist and advise NATO and Allied Nations in the area of technical infrastructure for cyber defence research activities
  • Providing expertise on technical infrastructure for the development and delivery of training courses and awareness-raising activities
  • Evaluating various products and solutions for laboratory and exercise environments
  • Participating in workshops, seminars, and conferences in the respective field of expertise

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • A degree in Cyber Security is an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network infrastructure engineering; practical experience in cyber security is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating system administration
  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF)
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or similar network hardware
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., VMware, AWS, Azure)
  • Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience in developing network architecture and good scripting skills is an advantage
