Role Description

We are seeking an ambitious and experienced software engineering leader who is passionate about creating an ideal environment to build and run a high-quality SaaS product and platform.

As our VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for the quality of the Cloudmore platform, from code to production. Lead the growth and productivity of the engineering team, ensure well-being of the engineers, as well as attracting top talent to enable us to quadruple our team of 12 by maintaining a high bar for hiring and management.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape a fast-growing company already at the front of a market with enormous growth potential and work with an established business going places. This role is based at the Tallinn Hub.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create and execute a modern and exciting vision for the Cloudmore engineering team.
  • Build a high functioning team that delivers high-quality products by setting and tracking goals and by soliciting, synthesizing and giving feedback to team members and delivering against agreed dates and accurately forecasting updates to the development timeline.
  • Lead a predictable engineering operation with measurable improvements in efficiency/time of shipping releases, SLA delivery, uptime, quality metrics and defect rates.

First 90 days

  • Establish key metrics for measuring team and individual productivity and benchmark Cloudmore's efficacy against industry standards, identify specific team challenges, and prioritize improvements and identifying and communicating risks.
  • Ensure the embodiment of Cloudmore values and culture within the engineering team. By fostering an environment of fearless engagement, creating a balance between speed and quality, and encouraging honest dialogue.
  • Collaborate with the Product Management and User Experience teams to ensure customer-focused roadmap development, and on objectives that the engineering team can deliver.
  • Create and implement a strategy to recruit and retain a high performing team

First 6 Months

  • Foster a culture of innovation and promote engineering best practices across teams and locations while ensuring that the correct processes are in place and followed.
  • Become a Cloudmore technical thought leader and effectively convey technical strategy to the C-level and the board.
  • Drive team accountability with clear goals and objectives, and evaluate, evolve, and scale the team practices and performance.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience.
  • Referenceable experience of building platform software at scale within high growth software environments.
  • Demonstrable success of building, leading and developing a distributed, cross-functional, globally dispersed engineering organization of 50 or more developers.
  • Strong people leadership and management experience in software product development and SaaS services.
  • Past experience building key metrics for measuring team and individual productivity and compare Cloudmore’s efficacy to industry standards.
  • Excellent at clear and concise written and verbal communication in English

Desired Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of a variety of different technical stacks and a strong knowledge of systems architecture, programming and design/implementation of multi-tenant SaaS products.
  • Strong ability to convey ideas convincingly and to influence without authority, particularly around communicating technical challenges to non-technical business members to ensure alignment.
