The role
Montonio is in a stage of the usual startup lifecycle where we have just enough complexity to further build out our financial department. We're way past the stage where finance was coordinated by several people in addition to their usual duties and the day-to-day was handled by external accountants. Its now handled by two people inhouse and several external accountants. Adding to the usual complexity, we're a financial company with operations spanning multiple jurisdictions. That's the where are we now part. 😁
As mentioned, were further building out our financial department with this accounting role, as we have enough complexity and exciting tasks to permanently expand the the team. There are many projects and challenges to get your hands dirty with including monthly accounting and consolidation, transfer pricing, new ERP selection and implementation and much-much more.

Your day to day will include:
- Taking ownership of daily accounting tasks in Estonia requiring advanced accounting knowledge and meticulous data processing.
- Owning the consolidation of group-wide financial statements.
- Driving improvement projects to enhance reliability, efficiency, and automation of accounting workflows, and further enhancing cohesive accounting principles.
- Rolling out new accounting software across group companies and locations.
- Coordinating and managing the consolidated financial audits by responding to auditor questions and preparing requested documentation.
- Overseeing transfer pricing calculations and collaborating with advisors on updates to TP documentation.
- Assisting with periodic investor reporting.
- Taking responsibility other more complex accounting matters, including R&D capitalisations, tax efficiency assessments, etc.
Our expectations for you
- 👨💻 At least 3 years of experience in accounting as a senior in-house or at an accounting firm that handles accounts with entities in more than one jurisdiction.
- 🇬🇧🇪🇪 Language skills - Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English and Estonian.
- 🗣 Feedback-oriented - You have a knack for turning experiences and data into constructive feedback. Your openness to receiving feedback is equally important to us.

- 📆 Prioritisation skills - You're a pro at managing your time effectively. With the understanding that there's always more to do than time allows, you excel at prioritising tasks. You plan ahead and identify the areas where your efforts will yield the greatest impact.
Bonus points:
- Working in or providing services for fintechs and/or start-ups
- Experience implementing accounting software in a company
