Our Research Engineer plays a key role in bringing a scientific, data- and experiment-driven mindset to autonomous robotics software engineering challenges. You will work closely with development teams to research, prototype, and validate next-generation autonomy solutions in mapping, localization, perception, sensor fusion, planning, and control. Your primary goal is to help transform these theoretical ideas into robust, production-ready solutions.
How you will contribute
Research & Knowledge Sharing
- Evaluate and implement state-of-the-art methods in object detection, tracking, point cloud processing, sensor fusion, planning & prediction
- Synthesize complex technical findings into actionable reviews, engineering reports and tasks
Algorithm & Model Development
- Design and adapt algorithms and machine learning models for autonomy challenges
- Develop proof-of-concept implementations and support dev teams in transitioning prototypes into production-ready C++ code
Validation & Experimentation
- Design experiments and data-driven methods to validate and benchmark autonomy models and systems
- Analyze results, draw conclusions, and document findings in clear technical or scientific-style reports
What we're looking for
- MSc or PhD (or ongoing PhD) in Computer Science, Robotics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
- Background in mathematical modelling, optimization, and data analysis
- Experience with C++ and motivation to deepen your expertise
- Proficiency in at least one prototyping language (Python, Julia, etc.)
- Comfortable working with Linux, and familiar with modern software development tools (git, Docker, etc.)
- Self-driven, curious, and collaborative mindset
- Fluent English and strong communication skills
Bonus points for
- Experience in robotics and distributed systems (sensors, radar, ROS, message queues)
- Deep understanding of optimization (trajectory, mathematical, or algorithmic)
- Hands-on ML expertise training, designing, or tuning deep learning models
- Experience with simulation and experimentation frameworks (e.g., Gazebo, CARLA, Isaac Sim)
