Job description
We are looking for a motivated trainee participating in Kuehne+Nagel's IT Hub internship program. As a System Engineer Trainee in our Document Output Solutions (DOS) team, you will be at the heart of a global platform responsible for rendering and outputting millions of corporate documents. Your work will ensure the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of the infrastructure that powers this critical service. You'll participate in managing the cloud environments, orchestrating containerized services, and maintaining the CI/CD pipelines that enable us to deliver document processing worldwide reliably.
This internship is ideal for students currently enrolled in a university or vocational programme related to IT who are eager to learn, ask questions, and grow in a dynamic and diverse environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS and Terraform.
- Orchestrate containerized applications with Kubernetes and OpenShift.
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Jenkins.
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies and contribute to agile development practices.
- Collaborate with a globally distributed team across multiple time zones.
- Improve platform reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Apply automation best practices to increase operational efficiency.
Requirements for candidates
We're looking for aspiring trainee with curiosity, technical aptitude, and the drive to grow into impactful DevOps professionals. Our ideal candidate brings:
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts and Linux systems
- Basic knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, Groovy)
- An interest in containerization and orchestration technologies (like Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (like Terraform), perhaps through coursework or personal projects
- Problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
- Fluent English (spoken and written)
- Ability to work effectively in international, remote team environment
- Genuine interest in DevOps practices and system engineering
- A strong desire to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing requirements
